In honor of The Muppets opening night, not only did I buy some sweet sparkly nail polish called Gone Gonzo, but I'm dedicating this post to a life-long love of the Muppets. Seriously, I've been in love with the Muppets ever since I saw the famous scene of Gonzo floating in the clouds with his huge bouquet of balloons. And, Gonzo has always been my favorite Muppet--he was weird like me.
I remember my mom taking me and my brother and sisters to the Delta movie theatre to see The Muppet's Christmas Carol and then going to see Muppet Treasure Island when I was a little older. Then in high school, Muppets From Outer Space came out, and I was never really the same. There was actually a span of a good five years or so, where I gave my sister Bekah a "Muppet" Christmas gift every Christmas. (I think she actually started getting sick of them after a while.)
After I got married and had my son, I was really worried for a while that he'd been exchanged with my real child at birth, because for the life of my I just couldn't get him interested in the Muppets. Then, once he hit the ripe old age of three, he watched Muppet Treasure Island and not only giggled the whole time, but started quoting his favorite line. What a relief! Ever since, one of his favorite movies is Muppet Classic Theatre, a bunch of fairy tales retellings, Muppet style, which are just hilarious.
So, what about you; do you have a life long obsession with the Muppets? Who's your favorite Muppet?
I wouldn't say I have an obsession with the muppets, but I do like them! My favorite Muppets movie is Muppet's Treasure Island. I LOVE it! :) My favorite Muppets character is probably Gonzo or Rizzo. :) Where did you get that nail polish? ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm not really obsessed with them either, Tabitha, but I do have a very tender place in my heart for them :) I got the nail polish at Sally's. They had a bunch of Muppet inspired nail polish colors to advertise the movie.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Muppet is Beaker. My favorite Muppet movie is The Muppet Christmas Carol.
