Is Cobbogoth a Series or a Stand-Alone?

I recently received a question by way of one of the comments on this blog asking if Cobbogoth was going to be a stand-alone novel or a part of a series.  Since I think that's a really great question I have yet to address, I've decided to answer it here.

Cobbogoth is book one in an already planned, seven book series.  This could vary by a book, but most likely won't--all the major details are already in place, and seven books seems like the right number.

I suppose this can be good news or bad news for you as readers, because it means you're making an investment.  Personally, I LOVE getting wrapped up in a great epic series, so I've always intended the Cobbogoth series to be one--the story idea just kind of came that way.  With a series, there is so much more to sink your teeth into both as a reader and a writer.

On the flip side, I suppose it does mean that you'll have to wait clear till book seven to be fully satisfied, but I've tried and tried to shorten it, my friends, and it just isn't going to happen.  There are too many reasons why it needs to be a seven book series (one of them being that there are seven elements).  But that's something you'll learn more about after you read book one.

Anyway, I hope this is good news for you, and that you love book one enough to stick around for the next installment, and the one after that, and the one after that...etc.

Thanks to Tamara for asking this question, and if anyone else has any questions they'd like to ask me about Cobbogoth, writing in general, or just me, please feel free to ask either in a comment on the blog, or through e-mail, and I'll do my best to answer you.

  1. The knowledge that Cobbogoth is the first in a series fills me with excitement! I love having multiple novels in which to follow the growth of characters.
Seven books seems like a pretty good number, so I just want to wish you the best of luck!

  2. All the more for me to design so I am totally on board with a 7 book series! Besides, after everyone reads book one, they just won't be able to get enough Cobbogoth! :)
